Valentino: Consistent Start, Challenging Finish Valentino Espinoza demonstrated a strong start in the 2025 Las Vegas Marathon with a solid opening mile at 8:52 min/mile pace, maintaining near-consistent pacing up until mile 8, averaging around an 8:24 min/mile. His fastest split was recorded between miles 1 and 2, clocking in at 8:05 min/mile. At the halfway point, his strategy started to shift as mile times gradually increased, with a notable deceleration seen from mile 20, where his split pace dropped to 10:21 min/mile, leading to a 13:32 min/mile in mile 21. The last few miles presented an increasingly significant challenge; mile 24's pace rose to 18:27 min/mile, and 25 followed with 17:05 min/mile. His final race time was 4:27:08, an overall pace of 10:11 min/mile. Compared to the previous year, Valentino saw an increase in his overall marathon time. Focusing on maintaining a steadier pace during the latter half of the race could be beneficial in future events.
