Steady Progress with a Consistent Finish Derrick exhibited a steady start at the 2025 Las Vegas Marathon, demonstrating consistent pacing throughout. He opened with a first split pace of 10:21 min/mile and progressively improved his pace, reaching a swift 8:43 min/mile at mile 12. This reflects a well-controlled increase in pace, showing his ability to manage energy output effectively. Notably, Derrick was able to sustain sub-9-minute miles from miles 8 to 12, peaking in gender placement at 554 by mile 12. In the latter part of the race, Derrick's pace showed a gradual decline, culminating in a final average pace of 10:29 min/mile. Despite this, he achieved a solid finish with a total time of 4:34:50. Derrick's performance was consistent across his division, maintaining a competitive position, and closing out with an overall placement of 1018 out of 1879 participants.
