Strong Early Split Pace Diminished in Second Half Jay Yang began the 2025 Las Vegas Marathon with a steady start, maintaining a consistent pace over the first half of the race. He ran his first mile at 12:07 min/mile, quickly improving to a faster pace of 10:44 min/mile by mile 7. His most efficient mile occurred at mile 14 with an impressive split pace of 9:28 min/mile. This demonstrates the potential for focused speedwork and a strong strategy early in the race, placing Jay in the top 107 for his age division at one point. In the latter miles, pace began to slow; by mile 26, Jay's split pace dropped to 20:09 min/mile, concluding with an overall elapsed pace of 13:09 min/mile. Finishing the marathon in 5:44:55, Jay had notable ranking fluctuations, ending 106th in the M19-24 division. In future races, sustaining consistent pacing towards the end can be an area of focus to improve endurance, alongside leveraging the strong early race performance.
