Strong Start Identifies Areas for Consistent Pacing Timothy Apostolou demonstrated a strong opening performance during the 2025 Las Vegas Marathon Half Marathon. With an impressive first mile split of 6:26, he held an early rank of 92nd overall. His initial pace remained commendable, averaging under a 7-minute mile until mile 4. The challenging aspect became sustaining the pace as it progressively fell over subsequent miles. As the race progressed, a noticeable decline in pace occurred, particularly between miles 6 and 7 where his split dropped to over 9 minutes per mile. This resulted in a shift in placement, moving from 139th to 223rd overall by the 7-mile mark. Nevertheless, maintaining a solid overall finish time of 1:48:22 in his division is an achievement itself. Consistency in pacing could enhance future performances to counteract increasing fatigue, and targeting even pacing in those middle miles should help in a better distribution for efficient performance across the distance.
