Consistent Start, Slowing Finish Kevin Lee maintained a steady pace for the first half of the marathon, progressively improving his split times after a cautious start. The initial 3 miles averaged at a 10:03 min/mile pace, and he reached mile 12 with a pace of 10:09 min/mile. Split times of 9:18 and 9:39 at miles 2 and 6, respectively, demonstrated an ability to accelerate effectively, enabling him to climb significantly in division rankings by mile 12, moving from 157th to 126th. However, after mile 18, Kevin began to slow, with splits logging over 11 minutes, peaking at a 17:37 min/mile by mile 24. This pattern caused a slip in rank, finishing 155th in his division. Overall, Kevin completed the marathon in 5:09:13, with an average pace of 11:48 min/mile. Focusing on endurance in the latter half of races might help achieve more consistent pacing while maintaining energy for a strong finish.
